It is the expressed goal of the Hebron Historical Society to develop and operate a Museum of Hebron History. Few towns can match Hebron’s colorful history:
- The entire center of the village (within a quarter mile of the Common) is listed on the National Register of Historical places.
- Important historical figures such as Civil War Governor Nathaniel Berry; Lewis & Clark Expedition 3rd in command John Ordway; the founder of Grand Rapids, Michigan and first teacher in Portland, Oregon John Ball, all came from Hebron.
- The oldest continuously operating camp for boys, Camp Pasquaney is in Hebron, as is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, continuously operating camp for girls, Camp Onaway.
- Few towns have historical records as intact and well preserved as Hebron, and few towns have a greater need for a Museum to display all this rich history.
The Hebron Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization that can accept tax deductible donations. At present there are several different buildings in the Historic District that are possible future Museum sites. In 2006 we hope to narrow down the choice of locations, and with the Town’s blessing occupy one of the Town’s historical buildings on the common.
Your tax deductible donation will help us convince the Town that we have the means to develop and operate this Museum.
- If you would like to make a donation please sent it to Hebron Historical Society, PO Box 89, Hebron, NH 03241.
- If you have Hebron related historical objects, papers, photos or other items that you would like to see in our Museum please contact the Society President at President@HebronHistSoc.org.
- Finally, if you have time and would like to help this effort please contact the Society President at President@HebronHistSoc.org.
